How To Gain Clarity In Ambiguous Situations
If you’re confused, overwhelmed or unsure what it is you’re trying to do. If everything’s all scrambled up in your head and you are feeling lost. Here’s the first thing to do to gain clarity.
Hi, I’m Nimat, founder of Brimah and John, and I’ll be sharing some helpful and practical tips to help shift your mindset and boost your online business.
So here’s your mindset shift of the day.
Think of posting on social media, like a job interview, or like the whole job hunting process. So The whole point of an interview process is for both sides to get to know each other and to see if they’re the right fit for each other, right?
You’ve got your cover letter. You’ve got your resume. You might have a portfolio, you’ve got everything you need to start the process. You make sure you they’re all up to date. You make sure that they represent who you are currently. You make sure that they’re communicating what you need them to communicate.
Cool. Next thing I need to do is actually go out and search for my potential job.
I’m gonna go looking for roles that interest me. I’m not gonna go with any and every role I’m gonna go for the roles that I generally am curious in.
That’s you searching for your customers. You don’t know who’s out there. You don’t know who’s available to you.
So we’ve narrowed down our field of interest and we’ve narrowed down where we’re going and who we’re trying to work with. That’s customer research. So your CV, your resume, cover letter your portfolio, that’s branding, brand strategy, business strategy. You are noting and documenting the things that you require, the things you need and where are trying to go your future progression.
That’s all the strategy bits.
Then we have customer research where we’re going out and we’re looking for the roles that fit us. You may not know necessarily be as specific and be like, I’m looking for a role at Google, but it may be that I’m looking for a role that has all of these characteristics.
So your ideal job has all of these features and you are going to look for the best match for that. That’s exactly the same as customer research, you narrow down your customers based on the characteristics you expect them to have. So I want someone that is working, you know, let’s say has disposable income, single, lives in a city center, enjoys selfcare and looks after themselves. These are the characteristics. So the more detail I have, the more this person becomes fleshed out. So that’s customer research. That’s who we’re talking to and that’s who we’re looking for. It’s the same with job hunting.
Then you have application process, you’re gonna start submitting your resume. That’s you telling them who you are? Hi, I exist. And it’s very similar to being a business online because now I found the person I’m looking for, and I now need to get them aware of me. That’s what social media’s supposed to be doing for you telling your customers, your audience, who you are, that you exist and that you are there for them. Right. We can possibly work together. We might just have a, a fantastic rapport, right?
The next stage is about introducing yourself to them. The difference between job hunting and being a brand is that the companies express that they’re looking for someone, our customers don’t actually express in the same way that they’re looking for you.
So you have to find creative ways to one, make them aware that they’re looking for you, two show up when they’re looking for you. It could be ads, it could be videos, it could be whatever content you’re putting out. Your content is meant to make them aware of your existence? So assuming you are going into this job interview. No one knows who you are, they don’t know anything about you. They only know what you’ve told them so far.
That’s the first round, that’s submitting your resume. Then there’s the interview process. The interview process is the back and forth that goes on before you are the selected candidate. That’s when your customers discover you and then go, Hey, I wanna get to know more about this person. This is where you should be giving them as much relevant information as possible for their needs.
Your customers will check you out. They will compare you to the other candidates. They will look at who else is doing, what you are doing.
They’ll look at the skills that person has versus the skills you have, and each time you have to show up. So when you’re going for your interview rounds and you have to continuously show up and show out and show that I am the best candidate for the job, that’s exactly what you’re doing with your customers.
Especially when you’re on online business, you’re continuously showing up that you are the best candidate for the job. How by communicating that you are the best candidate for the job. Sometimes that’s through social proof. Sometimes that’s through content. Sometimes that’s through referrals. Sometimes that’s through educational content, entertainment content. Sometimes it’s through ads. Sometimes it’s just through your customer service by being exceptionally fantastic and delivering fantastic customer service showing up and showing out that you are the person for this role. So exactly the same process, that a job interview is, is exactly the same process that you would go through when acquiring customers.
So want to know what you can post on your business social media, think of it as a job interview and post content that satisfies each stage of the job interview.

If you’re confused, overwhelmed or unsure what it is you’re trying to do. If everything’s all scrambled up in your head and you are feeling lost. Here’s the first thing to do to gain clarity.
Creating a brand is a crucial part of any business. It helps influence what your customers feel when they think about your business and typically involves your company’s name, the colours you use, your logo and the emotions that all these things evoke in the potential customer.
As a founder you’ll have many important things on your plate and a lot to stay on top of. Therefore the last thing you want is to experience analysis paralysis. The term “analysis paralysis” or “paralysis of analysis” refers to over-analyzing (or over-thinking) a situation, or citing sources, so that a decision or action is never finally taken, resulting in paralyzing the outcome.”
