Hello Fam Bam I'd like to introduce you to my ongoing series "freedom"
Somehow over the past few days this project has grown to mean so much more to me than what I initially set out to do.
Honestly I'm no longer sure of my own interpretation. I started freedom believing I was free. Through wearing a paper bag in different locations I wanted to demonstrate just how free I was. Free enough to do whatever I wanted despite what I wore on my head.
Now as I look at my pictures wherein I wanted to comically portray my freedom, I'm left to wonder just how free I am.
Personally, I now interpret it as asking for freedom, I no longer see myself as free but as trying to transcend my supposed race and the limitations placed upon me. How am I free? How can I trust you to look past the hijab on my head, when you can't even look past the colour of my skin?
Underneath it all we bleed the same red, we're all one race - the human race.
As always I welcome your interpretations... Check out the pics so far
