Visual Arts + Creativity

Welcome to my blog... a platform for all things fashion, creativity and female empowerment.

Here at Brimah + John I have two main beliefs "No-one can dictate you, to you" and "aspire for progress not perfection".

“This is a space where voices are heard and it turns out, I’m really good at listening”

NEWS & UPDATES- Brimah & John: Revamp!

I have placed my trust in God, [who is] my Lord as well as your Lord: for there is no living creature which He does not hold by its forelock. Verily, straight is my Lord’s way!
— Quran 11:56

Hindsight is 20/20 but God's all seeing, all knowing.

Sometimes when you embark on a journey, you're so focussed on the start and end point, you ignore the journey itself. Alhamdullilah, when I started this journey, not only was I embarking on a business venture, I was on a spiritual journey too. At every corner I'd reflect and re-evaluate my life, and wonder how to "let go, let God". As a serial control freak, having no routine and actual control was driving me crazy. I had a vision, I had a plan and I had ideas, but even with all that, I could never predict the outcome. So I turned to du'a, and I'd pray for two things in particular, that Allah ease my heart, and that He gives me the ability to be okay with whatever the outcome. It was easy for me to scream Tawakkul (reliance in Allah), but sometimes Tawakkul is hard when it's not (what you perceive as) in your favour, and trust me, my control freak self knew that "wanting to eat your cake and have it" feeling all too well.

Alhamdullilah, I have come along way, and I have so much faith and trust in Allah that I turn to him for almost every decision now. Honestly, where I'm headed is not where I intended or imagined, and I am eternally grateful, because I'm seeing Gods plan is better than my plan for myself.

So for that very reason, I'm taking another plunge! Alhamdullilah!

I pray Allah continues to guide me (and you, the reader), I pray He brings us closer to Him, removes whatever he dislikes, and surrounds us with what he loves. I pray He forgives our sins, overlooks our shortcomings, and increases His Nur in our hearts.

Brimah and John is heading in a new direction, you've probably already noticed we became more blog focussed than sales focussed over the last couple of months. Alhamdullilah the different women I've spoken to have inspired me, I discovered I enjoyed speaking and learning more about other brands than I did about myself.

Everyday, I come into contact with so many amazing brands, all offering a massive and unique range of products, all just as special to the founder as my brand is to me, so guess what guys...I'm making it my mission to shine a spotlight on these brands!

In sha Allah, every now and then I still intend to put together mini collections, with one off unique pieces. My talk with Ola of the @solano_collection, made me realise you don't have to give one thing up to pursue another, and funnily Sumaiyyah Al-Suwaidi (founder of @abudhabifashiondays) thought it was what I do already. Basically pointing out what was already in my face but I couldn't see (lol).

SubhanAllah Is Allah not all-knowing, all-seeing! He gave me vision, then provided me with clarity.

In sha Allah guys, look out for new projects, with more brands, more spectacular women, more team ups and more du'as! Alhamdullilah, I've already got several projects lined up for after Ramadhan, and I can't wait to share them with y'all.

This is my attempt to create/foster a community that supports each other, in business and in deen! May Allah make it easy for me (us).

I pray Allah grants us all success, removes pride and arrogance from our hearts, keeps us humble, and never lets us lose sight of Him. I pray Allah continues to bless us, I pray He accepts all our deeds and our intentions, I pray He makes it easy for us to accept the halaal and deny the haraam. I pray Allah gives us the strength to overcome all adversity and remain steadfast in our deen. I pray for Him to increase us in patience, and gratitude. I pray for Allah to heal the Ummah, grant us unity, protect us from ignorance, our own, and of others. Lastly I pray he answers your du'as aswell as mine too and grants us Jannah!

In line with the new direction, I've put together a super sale! A change in direction sale, (sounds a lot better than "closing down" sale lol, especially as we aren't closing down, Alhamdullilah).

In sha Allah x
