In The Hot Seat With Sugar Coated MUA
Here at Brimah and John, we have numerous inspirations! One of which are fabulous women, with a passion and a drive to do what they love and what makes them happy. These women are forging a path for themselves in their chosen fields and are an inspiration to us all. So what we like to do, is sit them down in the hot seat, shine a spot light on them... and get to know them a little better!
We got to talking with make up artist Sabina of Sugar Coated Make Up Artists and Hijab styling. Sabina is a self taught make up artist and Hijab stylist, and a quick run through her instagram page shows just how skilled she is at her craft. Plus not only is she beautiful, girls got brains too, she's an aspiring solicitor who's currently studying law. What an inspiration, she proves you definitely can have both if you work hard.
How did you come up with the name sugar coated?
I was actually just brainstorming a few ideas one day with a good friend of mine and she came up with SugarCoated which I thought fit perfectly👌
Share with us your make up journey
Ok, so up until the age of 18 I was a complete tomboy and never had no interest in makeup at all. The only makeup I used to wear was clear mascara lol So it was from age 19 onwards that I developed an interest for makeup and loved watching tutorials on YouTube and always fascinated at the skill it took to apply makeup. It was from then on that it became a hobby and my friends would often ask me to do their makeup and it was mainly due to their support and encouragement along with my family to pursue this hobby professionally. So that's when I decided to build up my makeup kit and freelance in my local area at first then once my work was more recognised i deciding to freelance all over the UK. This was and still is something I do alongside studying at uni and my part-time job.
How would you describe your daily skin scare routine?
I use tea tree daily face wash, I then spray rose water all over my face. Once dry I apply soft Nivea cream and I do this in the morning and before bed. I exfoliate my skin once a week with apricot scrub and it keeps my skin feeling smooth. If I'm feeling extra fancy then I may apply my Elizabeth Arden eye cream under my eyes every other day :)
What would you say is your go-to/everyday look (make up)?
On a daily basis I go for corrector and concealer to cover up dark circles to make me look well rested even if I'm not lol BB cream set with translucent powder, blusher to add some life into my skin, highlighter to give a healthy glow to my face, a few coats of mascara, fill in my brows and that all important nudey pink lipstick to finish the look off 💋

My style varies depending on where I am going. For evenings out I'll wear dresses, heels and take a clutch bag; For my part time work I am dressed smart wearing blouses and trousers, Chelsea boots and a handbag. Any advice for all the women out there finding their paths in life?
The best advice I would give to all the women out there is to keep faith in your dream and don't let anything steer you away from what you want to do or want to be in life. Stay focused and keep positive people around you and don't let the obstacles in life bring you down, rather use them as a force to get back up and try harder and get closer to being the person you want to be and to achieve the goals you want to in life. As women I strongly believe we should all support one another while trying to get to where we want and create a sisterhood where there is sincerity inshaAllah and no bitchiness or jealousy there's too much of that already✋Settle for nothing less than positive vibes only🙌
